The Performers of the Trio LevadeDarlene Rivest, violin Darlene Rivest is a violinist and violist from the Racine area. She performs in the Racine Symphony, Kenosha Symphony, Waukesha Symphony and Milwaukee’s Festival City Symphony and is the concertmaster of the Southern Lakes Masterpiece Chorale Orchestra and the Milton-Janesville Choral Union Orchestra. An avid chamber musician, she performs in the Trio d’Amies, Trio Levade, the Musika Piano Trio, and the Racine String Quartet as well as performing regularly as a violinist and violist with and the Lakeside Strings. As a soloist, she has performed with the Carthage College Chamber Orchestra, the Southern Lakes Masterpiece Chorale Orchestra and the Milton-Janesville Choral Union Orchestra.
Darlene received her Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In 2004 she completed her Masters of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her teachers include Dr. Gerald Fischbach, Yuri Beliavsky of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Dr. Sam McClure and Dr. Tyrone Greive.
In addition to her performing career, Mrs. Rivest is an active teacher and clinician. Having served on the faculties of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Beloit College, she is currently the adjunct instructor of violin and viola and co-conductor of the chamber orchestra at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Michael Klein, celloMichael began his music education with private lessons at the age of six with Sr. Carolyn Schlueter in Dubuque, IA. He later studied with Charles Wendt at the University of Iowa and Helga Winold at Indiana University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Music Education. He taught orchestral music in Janesville, WI before moving to Madison and joining Epic Systems Corporation of Verona, WI. He has performed with the Beloit Janesville Symphony, the Janseville Choral Union and the Edgewood Chamber Orchestra. Michael enjoys the challenge and reward of preparing and performing chamber music and has recently begun to focus more of his energies on this area, performing with the Trio d'Amies, Sapphire String Quartet, Trio Levade and the Stargazer Trio. He has also attended chamber music workshops coached by the Manhattan String Quartet.
Jane Mac Alla-Livingston, piano and harpsichord While at Potsdam, Ms. Livingston won the Breaky Memorial Piano Competition and the Eastman Kodak Award for Academic Excellence and Performance. After completing her master's degree, she joined the piano faculty at Northwestern University. She has studied under Albert Pflanz, Edward Hausman, Elaine Greenfield, Ronald Tarr, Arthur Tollefson, and Donald Isaak. Ms. Livingston is the founder of the Carthage Community Piano Program and is an active member of the Kenosha Music Teachers Association, Wisconsin State Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association. She is also an active keyboardist playing with various bands, the Kenosha Symphony, and theatrical orchestras including the Racine Theatre Guild. She is an active recitalist and accompanist, and also performs frequently with Chicago Sinfonietta members. Ms. Livingston is the organist at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kenosha. She also recently performed the world premiere of Keith Carpenter's "Piano Concerto". She has made use of her geological background during recent J-term trips to Scotland (2005) and Australia (2006). |
